Our Home

Our Home Community is a grass-roots organisation established by a local Keralan, Chacko K Mathew. It provides a safe and loving family environment for approximately 45 orphans and homeless children from Southern India. It is also home to The Good Shepard School, which provides affordable primary education for 300 local children and all the orphans.
During my world trip I spent an extraordinary week here photographing the children and their wonderful family. Volunteering also involved helping out with chores and technology queries, playing and sharing games and teaching in the classroom – which was a first and quite nerve wracking! The stories of the children and the people who worked there were heart breaking and inspiring.
